The Bar and Sole Rasp-1 has a half-round form with pointed rasp style teeth. It can be used in one or two hand grips to remove excess horn over the bars and sole of the hoof. These teeth are particularly effective in grinding down rough sole horn but leave a rougher finish than the Knife Tooth SR-2. Best choice for hard, slick sole horn. It has hoof pick and scraping point for removing dirt and grit from bars, sole, white line, and wall cracks. There are three different arcs for use on different shapes of sole. The Bar and Sole rasps are an alternative to using a hoof knife and involve less risk of gouging the sole or cutting your self with the knife blade. Made from high carbon steel for long lasting teeth. These teeth can be repeatedly re-sharpened using our special Honing Pad. PRODUCT APPEARANCE: Depending on our sources for vinyl tubing, the SR-1 handle might appear either WHITE or CLEAR.

Great tool

This rasp is so handy for taking down bars and cleaning up dead sole material. Sturdy gadget! Love it highly recommend to have in your hoof care collection!

Great Tool!

LOVE this tool! I'm not sure I'll ever use a hoof knife again! As a layman, just doing my own horses, constantly sharpening a hoof knife and still having trouble getting it through a hard summer sole was frustrating. This tool takes all that trouble away :)

Must have in your arsenal

Another SUPER innovative product that works really effectively, doesn't over trim or hollow the sole, works like a CHARM on bars, and has a nice handy pick on the end. Another one of my favorite, must-have tools. I do not ever use a hoof knife, but rather use this, it's much easier.

Just what I needed!

I bought the Bar & Sole Rasp-1 to trim the bars and sole on my two horses hooves who have been barefoot ever since we have owned them. My husband usually trims their hooves but he has a strong wrist and hands and can use the hoof knife. I have found that I don't have the strength for the hoof knife, especially in dry, hot conditions. This tool is a god send! I often wanted to remove lumps or bumps or bar material before my husband got around to trimming their hooves and now I can. It works so well and is so easy to use. Now I just have to try the Bar and Sole Rasp-2!

Farrier

Did not like at all. Tried on several houses with lackluster results that needed a knife in the end. Did not remove hard sole out bars
